Driving Your Self Development Plan
You’re busy, your time is limited, and you’re driving around trying to get things done. How do you manage your time so that you can create personal development opportunities? In order to think clearly, you need time alone, so the best time may be while you’re in your car.
How much time do you spend driving each day? If you’re on the road up to thirty minutes at a time, you can learn to use these moments in a way that is beneficial to your state of mind. Think of it as creating a “university on wheels” by listening to audio that motivates & inspires you!
Don’t get me wrong–I think it’s important to know the best current music and the latest happenings in the world. However, instead of continually listening to negative news or repeatedly hearing the same 40 top songs this week, I think it’s a good idea to switch gears to create a self development plan.
I subscribe to a series of personal development audio courses that arrive monthly in the mail. Every time a new cd arrives, it seems like perfect timing, as I’m ready to listen to something fresh that helps me continue to listen, learn, and grow. It’s a helpful tool to flush my mind with ideas and suggestions to set and achieve my goals and become a continual learner. Education does not need to stop after graduating from university!
Some of my favorite speakers and authors that have audio programs for purchase are Darren Hardy, John Maxwell, and Jim Rohn. Another great resource for educational audio is the publication, “Success Magazine.” Inside every monthly issue is a free audio CD that covers a variety of topics by people who speak about current trends, various accomplishments and achievements.
The next time you’re driving in your car, and you find yourself needing some extra motivation, think about what you’re feeding your mind. Change up your driving routine and you might find that you’re ready to take on your goals with a newfound enthusiasm and level of accountability. Are you committed to continuous learning?

I love this! I have always been personally inspired by the motivational seminars. It was the “juice” that would get me redirected and goal oriented. You are absolutely right on to remind me of the simple ways to get that boost via the car ride.

Thanks for your excellent feedback, Sharon! I love motivational seminars, too, as they are a great way to get direction to help focus on goals.

Great post SB! I know that if I’m not learning and growing I can’t expect the results I want. I spend two to three hours a day minimum driving and agree with you that it’s a great time to focus on self improvement!! Thanks and I subscribed!
