A friend in high school once told me that he would look in the mirror each morning and say to himself, “Today, I’m gonna kick some ass!” He wasn’t planning to beat up anyone. He was just preparing for a great day.
Shouldn’t everyone have that kind of morning mindset?
High school isn’t the same as corporate life in the “real world.” When your man seems stressed when he leaves the house for work, it can have a negative affect on your day.
How can you help him to improve his mindset and prepare him for a great day?
When it comes to helping your husband have a great day, you can do something other than walking on eggshells or staying out of his way. You can make a positive difference. You can exercise leadership.
When your husband is home, and not traveling, you can apply a leadership philosophy that comes from Darren Hardy’s book, The Entrepreneurial Roller Coaster. Do your best to understand and embody a few things that set great leaders apart:
1. Set the pace
2. Do it first.
3. Lead by example.
You can set the pace in your home each morning. Help your husband make as few decisions as possible before heading out the door. Prepare him for success!
Let’s say your husband hasn’t been crazy about exercising, but he suddenly realizes it’s time to get healthy.
He already sees your example of health and fitness. You’ve been doing it first. He sees that you’re sleeping better at night. He sees you in a great mood. He hears you talk about how good exercise makes you feel, even though you have to set the alarm to wake up 30 minutes early.
By setting the pace with your action, by doing it first, and having a positive attitude, you are leading by example.
It probably won’t happen overnight, but if your husband eventually decides to start working out, you can pat yourself on the back for showing him the way to a healthy morning routine.
However, now you’ve got a potential problem to solve. If you and your husband don’t enjoy working out together, your morning workout time may now be interrupted by his new morning exercise routine.
So, what do you do?
Save your workout time for later, and use his workout time to your advantage.
3 Simple Ways to Prepare Your Husband’s Day:
- While he’s working out, make sure he follow ups with a healthy breakfast by whipping up a high energy protein shake in your Vitamix .
- Check his apparel to give your “seal of approval” so he’ll look his best.
- Place his cell phone, sunglasses, wallet, keys, coffee-to-go and healthy snack in one place where he can grab it and go!
When you implement 3 simple ways to prepare your husband’s day, you help to create harmony, routine and balance in your happy home. He’s ready to “kick some ass,” he’s out the door, and YOU have a smile on your face.
Now it’s your time to enjoy your workout and the rest of your day!
