You don’t get annoyed if your husband’s job requirements involve entertaining colleagues on a weeknight. It’s something you come to understand and expect in your role as a Corporate Wife. Having an evening to yourself can be a nice change of pace!
The problem with an evening to yourself is this: If your husband comes home late, you might be jostled from your beauty sleep. Even worse, you might not be able to fall back to sleep. Then you know what’s going to happen: You’re going to wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and utter three words: “I look tired.”
How many mornings have you looked in the mirror to declare those words to the universe?
After a night of reading your Kindle until the wee hours of the morning, or watching Netflix, it’s tough to wake up from minimal sleep. The sun comes up too soon, as the dog starts nudging you with her paw to wake up. You have to get up. You shuffle your way to your robe and look in the mirror. The dog is looking at you in agreement: You didn’t get enough beauty sleep.
Words have power. Just because you feel something, it doesn’t mean it’s the truth. Just because you feel tired, it doesn’t mean you have to look tired. But if you speak those words, it makes them so. You start to believe them to the point where it becomes even worse.
Knowing that you feel really tired after not getting the ideal amount of beauty sleep, you could easily lash out in frustration or annoyance. But is it worth it? Probably not. Instead, you can make the choice to bite your tongue, heed my advice, and take action to look refreshed as soon as possible.
Here are 3 things you can do to look refreshed with minimal sleep:
- Put on a cute workout outfit and go for a walk.
- Splash your face with ice cold water, slather on your SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic (which will make your skin look and feel amazing) and Revision sunscreen.
- Look in the mirror and say these words out loud: “I look refreshed!”
Say it and believe it! These three words will change your mindset.
The next time your husband has a late night with colleagues (or even his buddies) remember that your words have power. Don’t use your words to destruct your self image, ruin your day, or wreak havoc on your marriage. Use your words for good. Be the kind of Corporate Wife who has positive words to say. Reflect your sunny and confident disposition to your husband, and to the world.
Here’s your assignment for the next time you don’t get proper sleep because of your husband’s work demands. When you’re ready to lash out at him for giving you dark circles under your eyes, don’t go there. Remind yourself of the three simple ways to look refreshed with minimal sleep. Change your mindset. Reflect to the world that you are a breath of fresh air, and repeat after me, “I look refreshed!”
