Summer is over, fall is here and it’s the perfect time to commit to your fall fitness program. The day after Labor Day is not officially the first day of fall, but it’s the date many decide to say goodbye to summer. If you didn’t start your fall fitness program last month, now is the perfect time to get started!
If you need an example of a fall fitness program, I’ll share an example of a well-rounded routine with you. Your fall fitness program could include 5 components, completed over the course of 5 days. Those components focus on building strength, increasing cardio endurance, building ab strength, improving flexibility and rest.
If mental games help you accomplish your health goals, as they do for me, make Fridays and Sundays your “rest” days. Typically, these are days that include “active rest.” Activities could include dog walks, bike rides, and stretching. Planning these days into your schedule can keep you accountable to your structured workout days, and they help you stay free from injury.
Finding the best time to workout is a matter of personal preference and time schedule. If you prefer working out in the morning, you’ll enjoy a sense of accomplishment. In most cases, you’ll probably feel more positive and energized throughout the day. Exercising in the morning activates the right side of the brain, stimulating creative thought. It’s no wonder that, back in the days when I attended an early morning spin class, I used to sweat with a lot of happy, healthy, and successful executives.
Whatever time of day you decide to schedule your fall fitness plan, make a routine and stick to it. With summer over and fall upon us, it’s time to commit to being your healthy best.

Thanks for the encouragement to start a fitness routine. So often I find myself putting my fitness last, when really I should be putting it first!

You’re welcome, Mindy! It takes a little planning, but you’ll feel great when you’re done!
